Life on the Edge:
The Influencer Act

For France’s 150,000 influencers, the Wild West of social media is officially over.

On June 1st, France passed a bill that regulates influencer marketing on social media, making it the first country to define influencers and apply a standard legal framework to the industry.

The law cracks down on a recent increase in questionable promotions—making it illegal for influencers to create paid content promoting cosmetic surgeries, counterfeits, or volatile financial products like Bitcoin. It also requires all sponsored posts to be clearly labeled.

Watch to learn how France’s law could rebuild consumer trust in influencers, and why it just might become the new global standard.
